Sheffield Hallam University « Art at the Chophouse

The 3-year BA Hons and the 4-year MDes in Graphic Design at Sheffield Hallam University offer a rich learning experience. The diverse backgrounds of the course team support a number of specialisms within the subject including Advertising, Handmade Design, Identity Design, Illustration, Motion Graphics, Structural Graphics and Typography. Students elect one of these specialisms as their main focus in the second year of the course, after having completed a process-rich first year focusing on design methods, drawing, photography, structural graphics and time-based media. The appreciation of context, and the need for a strong critical awareness, is integrated at each level. Throughout the course, there is strong emphasis on creative risk-taking, experimentation, professionalism and an in-depth understanding of the stages of the design cycle.
